Melanoma

The incidence of melanoma – the most dangerous form of skin cancer – has increased sevenfold in the United States over the last 50 to 60 years, more than twice as much as any other cancer.

Melanoma care is technical and highly specialized. One of the world’s leading authorities on melanoma surgical care, Eric Whitman, MD, FACS, is the Director of the Melanoma Center at Mountainside Hospital and Administrative Director of Surgical Services. Dr. Whitman provides those who have been diagnosed with melanoma unparalleled expertise.

Utilizing the most advanced surgical treatment options available, along with the latest research in surgical and non-surgical treatments, Dr. Whitman and his team provide patients with life-saving options available at only select centers in the United States.

In addition to surgery, there are a variety of new therapies being investigated for melanoma. These often involve treatments that use the immune system to fight cancer, or immunotherapy. Unique clinical research protocols, available at only a handful of sites throughout the Untied States, are available for patient participation through cooperative group and pharmaceutical trials at the Melanoma Center at Mountainside Hospital.

Dr. Whitman and his team will work with you to plan an individualized approach to your care in the comfortable surroundings of the Mountainside Hospital Cancer Center.
