New Portico & Benches for Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing

On May 18th, the Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing dedicated the new Portico Bricks and Benches, and celebrated the completion of its greatly enhanced learning center. The dedication ceremony was followed by a garden party on the lawn at the main entrance to the School, and tours of the facility.

In her comments, Louise DeBlois, Director of the School, thanked all of the donors who supported the campaign, which raised a total of $190,000. This included $30,000 raised from four benches, and a plentitude of bricks purchased by Hospital supporters, including 114 alumnae of the School.

The renovations brought state-of-the-art technology to Classrooms A and B, allowing faculty and students to take advantage of electronic learning opportunities including use of the Internet. Students’ ability to hear and see classroom demonstrations and lectures has also been greatly enhanced by large screens and speaker systems. Also, there are two new occupants in the Nursing Arts Lab – computerized mannequins each known as “SIM-MAN” – bringing the hands-on experience to a whole new level.

There is still time to buy a brick or bench for yourself, or in honor/memory of someone special.  Click here for information.
