Family Practice - Pediatrics

Residents in their first training year spend one month on the pediatric floors at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ. Residents work closely with outstanding pediatricians and pediatric residents caring for neonates and pediatric patients. They learn to identify and treat various pediatric disorders including asthma, croup, cystic fibrosis, Hirschprung disease and pediatric oncology illnesses. Residents will also learn to assess and diagnose symptoms such as fever, abdominal pain, electrolyte imbalances, seizures and cardiac arrhythmias. Through one-on-one precepting, daily rounds and lectures, residents will become comfortable managing pediatric patients in the hospital setting.
